Locals across Gilmore are being invited to take the stage, share their stories, and inspire meaningful conversations as part of a new series of high-energy community events hosted by the Kate Dezarnaulds 4 Gilmore Community Independent Campaign.
Kicking off at Nowra School of Arts on February 28, 2025, the We Are Gilmore Lightning Talks will provide a dynamic platform for locals of all ages—especially young people—to share their stories, ideas, and concerns about the future of their community. The series will continue with events in Gerringong, Culburra, Moruya, and Ulladulla, ensuring that voices from across the region are heard and celebrated.
Inspired by the growing grassroots Community Independent movement across Australia, the We Are Gilmore series aims to connect, energise, and elevate diverse voices across the electorate. The events will feature fast-paced, engaging talks from local community members, covering personal experiences, big ideas, and pressing local issues.
"This is politics done differently—more listening, more learning, and more people-powered action," said Kate Dezarnaulds, Independent candidate for Gilmore. "We want to hear directly from the people who make up our communities, their hopes, concerns, and ideas for a better future."
The event will also include performances from local musicians, creating an uplifting and celebratory atmosphere. Attendees can expect a night of inspiration, connection, and thought-provoking discussions.
