How can the region grow while maintaining its character?
Kate believes we can grow thoughtfully—without losing what makes the South Coast special.
She supports high-quality, medium-density development in the right places—like Ulladulla, Nowra, and Batemans Bay—where services and infrastructure already exist. She does not support urban sprawl or development that compromises the unique character of our towns and villages.
Kate also believes that protecting what we value—like local heritage, vibrant main streets, and our natural environment—goes hand in hand with creating space for new generations to live, work, and thrive here.
Her approach is guided by three key principles:
- Respect for heritage and place
- Support for housing diversity and affordability
- Clear, balanced planning rules that work for the whole community—not just the well-resourced few
Kate’s not aligned with big developers. Her advocacy is for small business owners, local families, heritage property owners, and community members who want to see the region grow sustainably and fairly. She believes in smart planning—not box-ticking or red tape—and knows that our communities deserve better than the current system allows.
